The Commissioner of Police, Akwa Ibom State Police Command, Mr. Zubairu Muazu, on Thursday ordered the relocation of the Special Anti-Kidnapping Squad from the police headquarters in Uyo to the Etim Ekpo Local Government Area.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Elkana Bala, said the move was to speed up the rescue of the wife of the clan head of Obong in Etim Ekpo, as well as tackle cultism in the area.
“The victim, Mrs. Naomi Jumbo, was abducted by some hoodlums while driving to the palace at Ibio Edem Urua village from a neighbouring village.
“The Commissioner of Police, Akwa Ibom State, Zubairu Muazu, visited the clan head in his palace, where he got first-hand information about the incident. He deployed a team of Special Anti-Kidnapping detectives in the area.
“Four suspects – Enobong Nwankwo, Kufre Obot, Teneime Udo and Inimeno Inokon – have been arrested,” he said.
He added that effort had been intensified to rescue the victim and apprehend the remaining suspects.
“The Commissioner of Police has ordered the temporary relocation of the operational headquarters of the command’s Anti-Kidnapping Squad to Etim Ekpo to tackle kidnapping and cultism,” he added.
