The Deputy Governor of Imo State, Eze Madumere, has commended the judiciary for nullifying the suspension of some members of the state House of Assembly.
Mr. Ifeanyi Nnataraonye, representing Mbaitoli state constituency, Dr. Uche Oguwuike, (Ikeduru state Constituency), Mr Chiji Collins (Isiala Mbano state constituency), Mr Nkenna Nzeruo (Oru East state constituency) and Mr. Donatus Onuigwe of Oru West state constituency) had approach Imo State High Court sitting in Owerri to challenge their suspension by the state House of Assembly led by the Speaker, Chief Acho Ihim.
In his ruling at High Court 2, the presiding judge, Justice Godwin Anunihu quashed the suspension, describing it as ultra vires and null and void. He said only the constituencies that elected the lawmakers had the right to recall them.
Madumere said, “I shower encomiums on the victorious lawmakers for their sacrifices and stooping to go through such an undeserved difficult time for the sake of justice and for believing that I was innocent and unjustifiably being persecuted.”
