The Department of State Services, Bayelsa State Command, has arraigned one Mr. Nengi Ikiba before Magistrate’s Court 11, Yenagoa, over threat to burst pipelines belonging to the Nigerian Agip Oil Company.
The suspect was arraigned on Thursday on one count of sending a text message to Agip, threatening to damage its facilities if the company failed to award him a surveillance contract.
The offence, according to the DSS, is punishable under Section 389 of the Crminal Code Law Cap C14, Law of Bayelsa State 2006.
The charge sheet number YMC/78C/2016, obtained by our correspondent, reads, “That you, Nengi Samuel Ikiba, on or about January 25, 2016, in the Yenagoa Magisterial District, caused the management of Nigerian Agip Oil Company Limited to receive an SMS through your phone number 08037028391.
“In the text message, you threatened to cause damage to the company’s (Agip) facilities unless the company award you a security surveillance contract. By that act, you committed an offence punishable under Section 389 of the Criminal Code Law Cap C14, law of Bayelsa State, 2006.”
The court, therefore, adjourned the matter for hearing until March 3, 2016.
