A former Deputy Senate President, Senator Ibrahim Mantu, has said the Peoples Democratic Party’s campaign council in Plateau State will ensure that the party’s governorship candidate, Jeremiah Useni, and other candidates contesting under the party’s banner win the 2019 general elections in the state.
Mantu also said the council was determined to protect the rights of the people of the state.
Mantu spoke during the inauguration of the 40-member council in Jos on Friday.
He said, “For the first time, we had free, fair and transparent federal, state primary elections, where the delegates elected the most electable governorship candidate and other candidates of the party. Today, we are making another history. We have assembled the movers and shakers of the PDP in Plateau State as members of the campaign council.
“I can see success and victory. Other candidates are just wasting their time.”
Useni, a retired general, said Plateau could no longer wait “to get rid of a leadership that has turned itself against the people that brought it to power”.
He said, ”I can see that our people have never been so united and unanimous in their resolve to usher in good governance and restore Plateau to its past glory.The task before us is to actualise the yearnings and aspirations of the people of Plateau State who are groaning under the yoke of bad leadership.”
