Full military honours for NAF helicopter crash victims

NAF MilitaryThe remains of the five officers on the Mi-35M Helicopter that crashed in combat on January 2 are to be buried in Abuja today with full military honours, the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) announced yesterday.

NAF’s spokesman Air Commodore Ibikunle Daramola said the gallant military personnel would be burried at the National Military Cemetery, Abuja.

Air Commodore Daramola said in a statement: “The burial ceremony of five crew members, who died in the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) Mi-35M Helicopter that crashed on 2 January 2019 while providing close air support to troops of 145 Battalion, Damasak, Borno State, is scheduled for (today) Tuesday, 8 January 2018.

“The burial, with full military honours, will take place at the National Military Cemetery, Umaru Musa Yar’Adua Road, Abuja by 9.00am.”

The deceased officers are:  Flight Lieutenant Perowei Jacob (Pilot in Command); Flight Lieutenant Kaltho Paul Kilyofas (Co-Pilot); Sergeant Auwal Ibrahim (Flight Technician); Lance Corporal Adamu Nura (Gunner) and   Aircraftman Meshack Ishmael (Gunner).
