Bala Nikyu’s ladies recorded a massive first leg advantage against their Baby Gladiators in Saturday’s U17 Fifa Women’s World Cup qualifier
Rasheedat Ajibade’s brace and a goal each from Cynthia Aku, Peace Efih handed the Bala Nikyu’s side a massive first leg advantage against the visitors at the National Stadium, Abuja.
The Flamingoes started brightly against their visitors and grabbed the opener through Ajibade in the 13th minute.
In 25th minute, the FC Robo forward came close but was denied by goalkeeper Batista Kasume to keep the score line slim.
14 minutes later, Aku sailed past her marker and fired in the second for Nigeria with hapless Kasume failing to stop the ball.
The visitors’ instant response through forward Van Wyk Kylie was simply rebuffed by the hosts goalkeeper in the 37th minute.
As expected, the Flamingoes in the 42nd minute increased their tally to 3-0 through Efih’s thunder strike from 30 yards out as they ended the half on the high.
In the second half, the Namibians came close when Asteria Angula failed to head home Kooper Yvonne’s cross in the 50th minute.
In 67th minute, goalkeeper Batista cleverly denied Ajibade shot, but three minutes later failed to stopped her from grabbing her brace of the day and Nigeria’s fourth.
Impressive Efih had her chance denied by the cross bar to hand visitors’ goalkeeper Kasume an easy catch in the 79th minute.
Despite the hosts push for more goals, the visitors managed to defend their yard till the final blast of the whistle.
