GTI Microfinance Bank harps on savings, investments

GTI Microfinance Bank has advised business owners and individuals to cultivate the habit of savings and investments in order to grow their wealth and ensure a secured tomorrow for themselves and their businesses.

Managing Director, GTI Microfinance Bank Limited, Mrs. Tolulope Opayinka, who spoke at a the bank’s customer forum in Lagos, said businesses and individuals must have financial plan that can adequately cater for future requirements.

She noted that such a financial plan should include savings and banking culture, good usage of loans to meet exigencies and speed up growth, diversification of income sources and business lines and dynamic knowledge of the business environment.

According to her, the top secret to financial success is to cultivate the habit of savings by at least saving one-third of one’s income.

She assured budding entrepreneurs that GTI Microfinance Bank would provide amenable financial supports to help drive the growth of their businesses as part of its commitment to promote development of small and medium enterprises (SMEs).

She said the bank has the right products, services and expertise to assist small and medium scale business owners to grow their businesses.

She added that the bank remains committed to providing banking access to the largely unbanked population and provision of cheap funding to the SME’s with the aim of helping individuals and businesses to create wealth.

Opayinka said GTI Microfinance Bank had conceived and developed its products and services with a view to meeting all business and banking requirements of small and medium business owners pointing out that such products and services include savings account, current account, fixed deposit account, loans and advances, electronic fund transfer (EFT), card services, business advisory and planning services and safe custody.

She assured that GTI Microfinance Bank is adequately capitalised to meet the financial needs of its customers noting that as a member of GTI Group, which included GTI Capital Limited, GTI Securities and GTI Consulting; the bank can serve as a one-stop financial provider to its customers.

She added that besides its strategic locations across Lagos State, the microfinance bank has banking agreements with Sterling Bank, Skye Bank and Wema Bank, which allow customers of the microfinance bank to make deposits through the branches of the commercial banks.

She explained that the customer forum was meant to interact with existing and potential customers of the bank with a view to bridging any perceived communication gap between the customers and the bank, thereby solidifying business relationships and encouraging patronage.

she said GTI Microfinance Bank caters to the interests of a large segment of the unbanked and under-banked population including artisans such as barbers, hairdressers, food vendors, mechanics, traders, tailors, shoemakers, photographers and plumbers among others, low income earners, SMEs such as relaxation centers, food canteens, hotels, schools, trade associations, religious organisations and non-governmental organisations among others.

She said the requirements for accessing loans at GTI Microfinance Bank are easy and the bank usually attends to customer’s loan request expeditiously.

The bank also used the customer forum to reward many customers for their loyalty and patronage.

Group Chairman, 414 Business Group, Dandy Benjamin, a customer of the bank, said the microfinance bank has proven to be competitive and able to meet the financial needs of his businesses.
