Lagos, Oyo, Edo discharge 12 patients as Ogun, Bauchi records three cases

TWELVE COVID-19 patients were on Sunday discharged in Lagos, Edo and Oyo states.

Bauchi and Ogun states anounced three cases.

Lagos Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu in a tweet said: “I am delighted to once again intimate you on the success we are recording in the battle against the lethal COVID19 infection.

“Today, four more persons; all male were discharged to reunite with their families and the community.

The patients – three from the Mainland Infectious Disease Hospital, Yaba and one from the Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH) have fully recovered and tested negative twice consecutively to COVID-19

“This brings the number of patients successfully managed and discharged from our facilities to 98.”

Edo State Health Commissioner Dr. Patrick Okundia said the state discharged six patients who tested negative twice to the virus.

Dr. Okundia said a total of 387 persons, comprising 105 persons of interest (POIs) and 282 line-listed contacts, who tested negative and had completed the compulsory 14-day seclusion were also discharged.

In Abeokuta, Ogun State Health Commissioner Dr. Tomi Coker  said: “This was the situation as at 11:30pm on Saturday.”

Altogether, 12 confirmed cases (nine males; three females) have been recorded at the time, she said.

Also in Ibadan, Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde  said: “Two confirmed COVID-19 patients were discharged today (yesterday) after receiving their second negative test results. This brings the number of discharged cases to nine. So, there are currently six active cases in Oyo State.”

An unidentified staff of the World Health Organisation (WHO) tested positive for coronavirus in Bauchi, the State Ministry of Health disclosed on Sunday.

A statement by Ibrahim Sani on behalf of the Health Commissioner Dr. Aliyu Maigoro Mohammed said new case may have contracted the virus from Kano State.
