N190m fraud: Oronsaye pleads not guilty to two-count charge of corruption.

Oronsaye

Former Head of Service to the Federation, Stephen Oronsaye on Tuesday pleaded not guilty to the two count charge leveled against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.
This followed an oral application by the prosecution, O.Uket seeking the court to allow the accused person enter his plea.

Oronsaye is standing trial before justice O.O.Goodluck on a two count charge of corruption and obtaining money by false pretence.
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission , EFCC, has accused Oronsaye of fraudulently obtaining N190m using his position as chairman of the Presidential Committee on the Financial Action Task Force. The money was part of the N240m grant the committee received from the Central Bank of Nigeria.

EFCC, in a statement by its spokesman, Wilson Uwajaren, over the weekend explained that the two fresh counts for which Orosanya is standing trial for at the FCT Federal High Court are different form those the accused person alongside others are facing at the Federal High Court, Abuja.

The matter has, however, been stood down for an hour in the instance of the prosecution.
