Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni has received Lawan Musa Majakura, the lone member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the State House of Assembly who defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC), on Thursday.
Mamman Mohammed, the governor’s director of press and media affairs, disclosed this in a statement made available to DAILY POST in Damaturu.
Majakura said he was convinced to leave PDP for APC because of the commendable efforts of the Buni-led administration in providing infrastructure to the people of his constituency.
“I want to join hands with you and support you in serving my constituency to improve the lives of my people,” he said.
The Speaker of the Yobe State House of Assembly, Chiroma Buba Mashio, said of the decamped lawmaker: “Hon. Lawan Musa Majakura has demonstrated serious commitment to defending the interests of his people on the floors of the assembly.”
According to the Speaker, Majakura’s defection to APC is an advantage to the party and the government of Yobe State.
Lawan Musa Majakura defeated the then Speaker of the House, Ahmed Lawan Mirwa, in the 2023 state assembly election, causing a major political upset in the state.
