A High Court sitting in Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State, has sentenced Ayegbusi Ojo to life imprisonment over the rape of a minor.
Justice J.O. Adeyeye on Wednesday convicted and sentenced Ojo on a lone count offence of rape of a 15-year-old girl.
The victim was coming from school when she was accosted by the convict, who lured her into his room and had carnal knowledge of her.
The girl could not tell anybody of her ordeal but her father found out when the girl collapsed at home, bleeding from her private part.
She was rushed to the hospital after which the convict was arrested and charged in court.
Ojo was charged with the offence of rape contrary to Section 31 (2) of the Child’s Rights Law, Cap C7 Laws of Ekiti State 2012.
Ekiti State Director of Public Prosecutions Julius Ajibare called five witnesses and tendered three exhibits in support of his case.
The judge held that the prosecution proved the offence of rape against the defendant beyond reasonable doubt.
He consequently convicted the defendant and sentenced him to life imprisonment.
