A past President of the Nigerian Institution of Estate Surveyors and Valuers, Mr. Bode Adediji, has emerged as the President of the Alumni Association of the Faculty of Environmental Design and Management, Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Osun State.
The association was formally inaugurated last week on the sidelines of the alumni reunion of the faculty under the chairmanship of the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Eyitope Ogunbodede, who was represented by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration), Prof. Chris Ajila.
Adediji, according to a statement, has grown from being a scholar into a role model in the real estate profession. He is well positioned to chart a new course for the EDM Faculty through resourcefulness and qualitative leadership.
He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Estate Management emerging as the best graduating student of the University of Ife (now OAU) in 1979. He also holds a Master’s degree in Estate Management (Urban Land Appraisal), Reading University, United Kingdom in 1984.
He is a member of many professional bodies such as the NIESV, Estate Surveyors and Valuers Registration Board of Nigeria, International Real Estate Federation (FIABCI), African Real Estate Society, Nigerian-South African Chamber of Commerce and Institute of Directors Nigeria, among others.
In her welcome address, the Dean, Faculty of Environmental Design and Management, Prof. Olubola Babalola, pointed out that as the leading faculty in the built environment disciplines in Nigeria, most of the alumni hold top positions in consultancy firms, contracting companies, banks, the public service, armed forces and other notable establishments in and outside the country.
She said, “It is not by accident that the longest building on the OAU campus is the faculty for building professionals in the built environment. The faculty consists of the departments of Architecture, Estate Management, Urban and Regional Planning, Quantity Surveying, Building, Fine Arts, Land Surveying and Geomatics.”
