Agenda For New President Of NCRIB – Independent Newspapers Nigeria
Nigerian Council of Registered Insurance Brokers (NCRIB) on Thursday said COVID-19 pandemic has stagnated global economy and grinded to a halt all forms of social relationship which Nigerians are particularly known for.
The development NCRIB said has changed the earning capability of many workers in the public or private sector.
President/ Chairman of the Governing Board , Dr. Bola Onigbogi made this known when she led some members of the association to donate palliatives to the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) in order to cushion the effect of COVID-19 lockdown among the less privileged in the nation’s capital.
She added that, the entire world is at the moment confronted with the grimmest challenges, occasioned by the pandemic, saying,  it was in furtherance of the Council’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives that: “we have seen the need to provide succour for the masses through provision of palliatiatives during this period. It is most heartwarming for me to note that prior to this event, our Council had also given palliatives to Lagosians in the same vein,” she said.
According to her: “Considering the observed positive efforts of the FCDA towards providing succour to the inhabitants, the Council has seen the need to partner and donate these token palliatives as part of our Council’s support at this crucial time.
“I must at the juncture appreciate the efforts of the Federal Government under President Mohammadu Buhari GCFR for the pragmatic steps already being taken by government to reduce the spread of the virus. Also, great kudos should also be particularly given to our dynamic Minister of the FCDA Alhaji Muhammad Musa Bello for the proactive and practical steps that the government has been taking since the index case was recorded in the Federal Capital Territory”.
She continued: “I have a duty here to passionately appeal to Nigerians to please strictly cooperate with the Federal Government by adhering to all the health advisory issued by the National Committee Disease Control (NCDC), especially with regards to social distancing, hand washing and use of face masks. We must all be aware that we all have a role to play individually to end this pandemic. Any infringement of this advice would most assuredly be tantamount to prolonging the pandemic which would not augur well for us as individuals and nation”.
She further stated that the NCRIB will continued to be a responsible and responsive institution: “as we often rise to the challenges of assisting the society through various Corporate Social Responsibility projects.
“In particular, I am most delighted that the Council’s members recently contributed significantly to the insurance industry’s support to the Federal Government on COVID-19, as coordinated by the NAICOM. It is quite heartwarming that this support was appreciated by Mr. President during one of his national broadcasts on the Covid-19 Pandemic”.
