The Federal Government has identified the establishment of modular refineries in the Niger Delta and the sustenance of the Amnesty Programme as part of its efforts at fighting unemployment.
The Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Mr. Boss Mustapha, explained that the method would also stop fuel scarcity as the modular refineries would ensure availability of petroleum products.
Mustapha stated this on Thursday during a seminar on ‘Provision and Spread of Socio-economic and Infrastructural Facilities: Need for Strategic Partnership with Stakeholders,’ organised by the Federal Character Commission in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital.
“As part of the Federal Government’s efforts to reduce unemployment and scarcity of petroleum products, the establishment of modular refineries in the Niger Delta is being vigorously pursued. Equally, the Amnesty Programme is being sustained as well as the general development of the Niger Delta area,” he said.
Mustapha restated that the Federal Government was funding the reconstruction of 25 roads in the six geo-political zones of the country, including roads in the South-East and South-South zones, with the N100bn Sukuk bond.
The SGF explained that the spread of the road projects was in line with the federal character principle.
Mustapha, who was represented at the event by the Director, General Service, Office of the SGF, Mr. Yinka Aguda, also stated that the construction of the second Niger Bridge was being given special attention.
