For those who have been itching to see their favourite stars up close and personal, a novel avenue has been created in Nigeria by which fans would be able to bond with their celebrity crush on a monthly basis on a date tagged ‘Celebrity Fan Date.’
Already, A-list artistes including the king of comedy, Ali Baba, Korede Bello, Funke Akindele and a host of others have signified interest and the first edition will feature Funke Akindele.
The CEO of Heartlink Group, consulting partners and event organiser, Kemi Otegbade, told Saturday Beats that the aim of the event was for fans to know that their celebrities are also human.
She said, “Our Nigerian stars have been perceived as selfish or inhuman, Celebrity Fan Date series will show the world that this is far from the truth, they love charity and some of them even have NGOs of their own.
“Celebrity Fan Date is aimed at inspiring youths and up and coming ones that hard work and consistency pays; and that you can be what you want to be if you set out to do so wholeheartedly.”
According to her, Celebrity Fan Date will also entertain and educate the public; and possibly berth new set of celebrities as an outstanding fan may get a chance to become a budding star through visibility.
