Beeta Universal Arts Foundation is set to present award-winning play, Our Son the Minister, for the second time in Lagos at the ultra-modern Terra Kulture Arena in Victoria Island.
Written by Paul Ugbede and directed by Kenneth Uphopho, as well as produced by award-winning actress, Bikiya Graham-Douglas, the play won the first edition of the Beeta Playwriting Competition in 2017.
Described by critics as hilarious and thought-provoking, Our Son the Minister is also a political satire that tells the story of Doctor Makoji, who has just bagged a ministerial appointment and prepares to be sworn in, while his family and friends make plans on how to share the enticing national cake he is set to bring home. Alarmed by their plans, Makoji decides to turn down the appointment. They conclude that he has gone mad and desperately seek a solution to his madness.
Starring Patrick Diabuah, Soibifaa Dokubo, Inna Erizia, Chris Iheuwah and Biodun Kassim, among others, the play is scheduled to run at the Terra Kulture Arena between November 9 and 11 before its cast and production crew embark on a tour of five universities across the country to spread its message of value re-orientation among the youths.
