The Barcelona star saw off competition from Cristiano Ronaldo and Neymar to end a two-year spell without football’s biggest individual prize, with the Portuguese picking up the previous two.
“It’s incredible that it’s my fifth,” the Argentine said in Zurich on Monday. “Much more than anything I would have dreamed of as a kid.”
It looks like Messi is beginning to cherish his latest prize already.
