Several persons were feared killed late Sunday night after suspected armed herdsmen launched a deadly attack on the Tyoshin community in Naka, the headquarters of Gwer West Local Government Area of Benue State.
According to local sources, the attackers stormed the area under the cover of darkness, unleashing terror on innocent residents.
The exact number of casualties remains unclear as of the time of filing this report, but eyewitnesses described the assault as brutal and devastating.
Among the victims in the Naka attack was Monday Dooden, a native of the community.
His brother, Akawe Francis, took to social media to share his grief: “Monday Dooden, my brother, we ran away from the village because of Fulani attacks to Naka over 10 years ago, but we didn’t escape. Last night you were killed by the same Fulani.”
Earlier in the day, a similar attack was reportedly carried out by suspected herdsmen in Edikwu Ankpali, Apa Local Government Area, where several persons were also said to have been killed.
