The Consumer Protection Council has lauded the management of Fidelity Bank Plc for its various programmes aimed at educating and empowering Nigerians.
The Head, Lagos Office, CPC, Mr. Nggada Joshua, who stated this recently in Lagos recently at the bank’s 4th prize presentation programme, urged other Deposit Money Banks to emulate the lender.
He said the government agency, saddled with the responsibility of protecting consumers’ interest, was impressed by the savings culture the bank was promoting through its financial inclusion strategy.
Joshua said, “Our concern with the promos being run by organisations is the consumers. We want to ensure that whatever is being promised to consumers is strictly adhered to. We monitor promos to see that the processes are free, fair and flawless and that consumers are not cheated in any way.
“We have seen that Fidelity Bank is giving out what it promised members of the public. I urge other banks to emulate this. And I will ask the lender to even do more to empower more consumers.”
The CPC deputy director said the empowerment programmes would add value to the economy.
The Chief Financial Officer, Fidelity Bank, Victor Abejegah, said that since the promo commenced some months ago, more than N19m had been given as support to the winners.
“On this 4th prize presentation, a total of N5m cash/rent support has already been credited to winners across the nation,” he said.
