NCS Superintendent Akabusi Wins Best Officer Award

As a way of motivation, compensation and reward, Superintendent of Customs, SC John Zimako Akabusi has emerged winner of May, 2024 Best Officer of the month.

Incumbent Customs Controller for Federal Operations Unit, Zone A, Ikeja, Lagos, Comptroller Oladeji assumed duties by mid of April, 2024; he took over from Comptroller Hussain Kehinde Ejibunu as Controller for the unit.

Earlier in January, 2024, SC Akabusi also was among several other officers that won awards during FOU ‘A’ End of 2023/New Year 2024 Customs party held on their offices/premises at Bank Olemoh – Maryland Road, Ikeja, Lagos.

DCG Abba – Kura, then of Enforcement, Investigation and Inspection and Comptroller Dr. Babatunde Olomu, then of Headquarters Special Duties were amongst of several top Customs brass in attendance then.

Akabusi, present Officer -in- Charge for the Federal Operations Unit, Zone A at Ijebu – Ode Axis Patrol, is an officer known to have paid his dues in Customs Enforcement, Seizures Operations and Anti Smuggling fights/Patrols.

Coordinator for this consortium of Media Practitioners, Elder OYEKANMI Theophilus Latubosun Oluwatimilehin got to know this seasoned officer at about 2011/2012 then at Strike Force Team at Itele with now retired Assistant Comptroller of Customs, AC Kawu.

Later, he was moved to Ajilete where present AC Femi Akanni and AC Bankole worked with present DC Amusan.

Akabusi later returned to Itele with Kawu and then, back to Ijebu Ode (FOU ‘A’) where he has been OC OPS, 2I/C and present Officer – in – Charge (Old Toll Gate), Ijebu -Ode and as Coordinator for Itele (FOU ‘A’).

However, during a brief chat with Akabusi, he said “Let me foremost return praise, glory and honor to Almighty GOD that spares and enables one perform and achieve”.

“Secondly, please, let us give a good mention to my incumbent Controller who brings in good mechanism for instant recognition, reward and motivation to derserving officers”.

On a last note, he said, “My darling wife and children as well as all my officers at the Ijebu – Ode Patrol Axis are well appreciated”

“My wife and children for their love and cooperations and to my able officers, for making it happen through their resilience and hard work in collaboration with my headship”.
