Nigerian Senate Confirms That Buhari’s 2016 Budget Actually Went ‘Missing’ [TWEETS]

PRESIDENT MUHAMMADU BUHARI (L), PRESENTING THE 2016 APPROPRATION BILL TO A JOINT SESSION OF THE NATIONAL ASSEMBLY IN ABUJA ON TUESDAY (22/12/15). LEFT IS THE SENIOR SPECIAL ASSISTANT TO THE PRESIDENT ON NATIONAL ASSEMBLY MATTAERS (SENATE), SEN. ITA ENANG AND CLERK OF THE NATIONAL ASSEMBLY, ALHAJI SALISU MAIKASUWA.

The question now is: Why were there trying to deny the story of the missing budget?

At the senate plenary on Wednesday, confirmation came at last that contrary to the denials on Tuesday by both the presidency and the senate leadership, there was indeed some controversy over the missing budget and senators discussed it at a closed door session.

The revelation came after the senator representing Abia South, Enyinaya Abaribe raised a point of order for the senate to address the issue of the missing budget as widely reported. Quoting Order 42 of the Standing Rules of the senate, Abaribe said the matter of the missing budget was discussed yesterday during a closed session and the senators were yet to receive feedback on the state of things.
