NUC approves 15 courses for Lighthouse varsity

NUCThe Vice-Chancellor of Lighthouse University, Benin, Prof Anthony Imianvan, has disclosed that the institution has received approval from the National Universities Commission to run 15 academic programmes.

Speaking at the university’s permanent site in the Evbuobanosa Community, Orhionmwon Local Government Area of Edo State, Imianvan said the institution can award B.Sc. degrees in Accounting, Computer Science, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Information Technology, and Mass Communication.

Others are Microbiology, Political Science, Public Administration, Science Laboratory Technology, Sociology, Social Work, Criminology and Security Studies, International Relations and Diplomacy, Computer Engineering, and Business Administration.

The VC also showcased some of the institution’s facilities, including state-of-the-art lecture theatres, an e-library, a physical library, laboratories for microbiology, physics, chemistry, and general science, as well as mechanical and electrical workshops.

He also mentioned that the institution had male and female hostels, a fully equipped clinic, and other infrastructure.

Imianvan called on parents and guardians to consider Lighthouse University, Evbuobanosa, as the institution of choice for their children and wards, stressing the university’s readiness to provide quality education in a conducive environment.

Also speaking, the Chancellor of the university and former National President of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria, Rev. Felix Omobude, affirmed the institution’s commitment to academic excellence and discipline.

He said the university was founded on a solid foundation and built to raise future leaders who would excel in their fields and stand before kings.

“Lighthouse University is a place for academic excellence and discipline. In today’s world, there is no space for mediocrity. Therefore, excellence must remain our standard.

“Our vision is to raise men and women who will not stand before obscure individuals, but before kings and royalty. The university must be known for godliness, innovation, creativity, and a continuous thirst for knowledge and growth,” he said.

Omobude assured stakeholders that the university had the required manpower, learning environment, and modern facilities to achieve its vision of becoming a world-class institution.

“We are not here by accident. We have worked, and will continue to work, to build a centre of excellence,” he stated.

He further acknowledged that institutional growth is a process, promising continued investment in infrastructure and academic quality while urging students to be worthy ambassadors of the university.
