Police, military make heavy personnel deployment for Emir of Fufore coronation

Adamawa State Police command, in collaboration with the Army and other sister organisations, has placed massive personnel deployment for the coronation of the Emir of Fufore, Alhaji Sani Ahmadu Ribadu.

The heavy security personnel deployment is evidently informed by harsh criticism from various quarters against the creation of the emirate.

The Fufore Emirate is one of five chiefdoms and two emirates that the Adamawa State Government created recently but it has been the most widely criticised, with many, especially those loyal to the most prominent emirate in the state, the Adamawa Emirate, asserting that the Fufore Emirate, which was carved out of the Adamawa Emirate, should never have been created.

As all preparations for the coronation of the new Fufore emir on Wednesday got under way, the police and other security agencies evidently felt a need to tighten security in and around Fufore.

A statement issued Wednesday morning by the state Police Command said the State Commissioner of Police, CP Dankombo Morris, had directed the Assistant Commissioner of Police in charge of operations and supervising area commander of Karewa to coordinate security deployment at all key locations where dignitaries will be hosted.

“Similarly, as part of the security measures, the Police boss has deployed armed police personnel to critical locations including Yola international airport, and strategically positioned traffic control officers to ensure smooth vehicular movement and prevent congestion in and around the Emir palace and all the junctions within metro down to Fufore local government area,” the command stated.

According to the statement signed by the state police image maker, Suleiman Nguroje, “The Command advises members of the public to cooperate with security measures and report any suspicious activities, individuals or groups.”
