Work to resume on Pen Cinema bridge –Sanwo-Olu

Image result for sanwo oluLagos State Governor, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has said construction will soon resume on the abandoned Pen Cinema bridge at the Agege-Pen Cinema area of the state.

A statement quoted the governor as saying this on Sunday while inspecting ongoing rehabilitation of major roads in the Iju area of the state by the Lagos State Public Works Corporation.

Sanwo-Olu, in company with his deputy, Dr Obafemi Hamzat, said the contractor handling the bridge construction was being remobilised to the site.

He sympathised with motorists and residents for the gridlock on the alternative routes occasioned by the abandoned project, saying his government would compensate for the discomfort by ensuring the timely completion of the bridge.

He said, “I can assure you that we are currently in talks with the contractors handling key road projects in Ikorodu, which are Igbogbo and Ishawo roads; and also a critical project in Agege area, which is the Pen Cinema Bridge.

“Our promise is that, if it is not by the end of this month, then, by next month, the contractors will be fully mobilised to the sites to complete the work.”

The governor said the ongoing repairs to the roads across the state was an outcome of his executive order on emergency rehabilitation of critical roads.

He added that his administration would focus on actions that would bring relief to the taxpayers.

Also at the inspection tour were the Lagos Head of Service, Mr Hakeem Muri-Okunola, and the General Manager of the Lagos State Public Works Corporation, Mr Daramola Olufemi.
