Thirty-six days to the Kogi governorship election, chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, has arrived Lokoja, the Kogi State capital, for a stakeholders meeting.
The meeting attracted INEC officers, including the National Commissioner in-charge of Kogi, Nasarawa and Kwara states, Mohammed Haruna.
Others INEC national commissioners were: Okechuku Obieko and Abubakar Nahatu.
Also on hand were representatives of the United States and United Kingdom missions in Nigeria.
According to the INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner in Kogi State, Prof. James Apam, the INEC boss will meet with other critical stakeholders, including traditional and opinion rulers leaders on the needs to to allow for a peaceful, transparent, free and fair election in Kogi, come November 16.
Present at the meeting are candidates of the 23 parties cleared by the INEC to participate in the exercise, including Governor Yahaya Bello (APC) and Engr. Musa Wada (PDP).
