The Director General of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency, Dr. Dakuku Peterside, has praised the Rivers State chapter of the All Progressives Congress for conducting a rancour-free non-elective congress and electing delegates for the forthcoming party’s national convention.
Peterside, in a statement on Sunday by its media team, said the Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, as well as other APC leaders in Rivers deserved commendation for the exercise.
While also hailing party faithful at various levels, Peterside said the APC was set to restore dignity and hope to Rivers people in the face of what he described as breakdown of governance in Rivers State.
He said, “What we are going through in the state is temporary as the APC will give Rivers people back their voice and confidence.
“The journey of making our people part of the development agenda of Nigeria begins with simple democratic exercise such as the peaceful LGA congress we have just had.”
Peterside, who was the governorship candidate of APC in the state during 2015 general elections, stressed that the party remained the only credible choice for Rivers people come 2019.
