Senate Ethics, Privileges and Public Petitions has recommended the suspension of Senator Kabiru Marafa (APC, Zamfara Central) over his verbal attack on the national assembly.
Marafa had openly backed the comment by former President Olusegun Obasanjo that the nation’s legislature was corrupt.
Marafa, who shunned an invitation by the committee to defend his utterance, had boasted that he cannot be suspended from the Senate on account of his outburst.
It would be recalled that chairman of the committee, Senator Samuel Anyanwu (PDP, Imo East) had on Tuesday submitted the report of the committee on Marafa’s probe.
A member of the committee told DailyTrust that Marafa was recommended for suspension.
“We have recommended the suspension of Marafa but we didn’t state the time that the suspension will start in our report.
“The period would be decided on the floor whenever our report is considered,” the source disclosed.
