Rivers crisis: APC plotting to turn Nigeria to one-party state – PDP

Amidst ongoing political crisis in Rivers State, the National Working Committee, NWC, of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has accused the All Progressives Congress, APC, of plotting to decimate opposition and impose a one-party state in the country.

This is even as the body said it remains unwavering in providing steady and effective leadership to ensure the stability, growth and effective management of the party, warning members against making unguarded statements.

This was made known in a press statement issued on Thursday by Hon. Debo Ologunagba, PDP National Publicity Secretary, at the end of the NWC emergency meeting on Wednesday.

According to Ologunagba, the organ re-assured all members, critical stakeholders and supporters that its interventions particularly with regard to the political development in Rivers State were yielding desired results.

He stated that the PDP remains united and firmly on ground in Rivers State and other parts of the country despite current challenges.

Ologunagba also said that the NWC condemned what it described as incautious conduct, activities and unguarded utterances by certain leaders who were out to disparage critical organs of the Party.

The NWC further cautioned party leaders to be mindful of their actions, utterances and conducts which are contrary to the provisions of the Constitution of the PDP.

“The NWC under the Acting Chairmanship of Amb. Umar Iliya Damagum remains unwavering in providing steady and effective leadership that ensures the stability, growth and effective management of interests and corporate integrity of our Party in spite of the onslaught by the All Progressives Congress, APC, to decimate opposition and impose a One-Party State on our nation,” the statement said.
